Beschreibung

The idea for this design came to me after thinking about https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/home/coffeepot-birk. The coffeepot was all about 90 degree corners and flat surfaces, so I thought how about a design that had none of those. My firs attempt used a sphere as the shape for the teapot, but the slopes at the bottom were impossible to print without supports all the war around. I have never used supports in any of my designs (except now - see below), so I changed the shape from a circular arc to a Bezier curve where I could control the slope at the top and bottom. With this change the bottom prints pretty well without any supports EXCEPT FOR THE HANDLE. The bottom of the handle requires a small support because it has nothing under it. So I used a hand-drawn support and that worked fairly well. I did have some problems removing all the support material (probably because this is my first time using a support), but with a bit of effort the handle turned out ok. Dur to all the curvature in this design I suggest using variable layer heights when slicing it. For more into on this see this blog page: https://birkbinnard.com/blog/variable-layer-height/ PS: I hope you know that PLA is not watertight, so if you use that to print this do not use it for real tea.
