The Sliding Slinger; Notes. Designed and built for research purposes only. The Sliding Slinger is a repeating sling shot with magazine capable of 40+ 10mm (9.56mm) stainless steel balls. The mechanism uses a sliding rail with the tension bands attached between two sets of “wings” and is drawn back much like a standard bow and held in that position until the ball is released with the use of the thumb trigger similar to releasing a compound bow. The string catch mechanism is designed to capture the ball directly behind the string and is a direct adaption from the Sling Hammer design by Dondipper. (top idea mate) The initial design was also adapted from a plywood design created by Joerg Sprave (The Slingshot Channel), so I have both to thank for those clever designs. The length of this beast is around 600mm printed in half sections (for longitudinal strength) to fit a 300mm build plate with the front extension keyed into main section, some glue may be required for certain bits such as the 2 halves of each section and the joining of the extension to the Main section. The screws may be enough otherwise, with both there is additional rigidity and strength. The side plates around the trigger assembly has been designed to allow for replacement of parts if necessary, and also the rear hand grip can be easily replaced.
