The M48 Patton is a first-generation American main battle tank (MBT), introduced in 1952 as a successor to the M47 Patton. In addition to the U.S. military, the M48 has been used by numerous NATO countries, and is still in service in Turkey, Taiwan, Greece, and other nations. Over the years, the M48 Patton has undergone numerous modifications and improvements, including the transition from a petrol engine to a diesel engine and the transition from a 90mm to a 105mm gun.
