Description

Styracosaurus was a herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 75 to 72 million years ago. It was known for its striking appearance, with a large frill adorned with six long spikes, a prominent nasal horn, and smaller horns on its cheeks. Styracosaurus measured about 5.5 meters (18 feet) in length and weighed around 3 tons. Its frill and horns likely served as both a defense against predators like tyrannosaurs and as a display for mating or dominance. Fossils of Styracosaurus have been found in North America, particularly in Alberta, Canada, making it one of the iconic horned dinosaurs.
