Description

Just in time for the Fourth of July, and June 14 is flag day! This looks nice in both solid colors and translucent. The flanged frame is designed open so that if the Union and stripes are printed in translucent, you can back-light it. Maybe mount it in a panel on a box. For that, add 2 thin acrylic panels (1/16" x 150 x 84 mm front and 1/16" x 148.8 x 80 mm back) to fully capture it all . There is a second frame without a mounting flange which is intended for solid colors. It all fits together very well with interlocking tabs. It is a bit of a puzzle but that will be the fun part. The fit keeps getting better as your job of trimming of brims etc gets better. There is a lot of trimming to be done but it is straightforward. The frame can be tricky to print. It is designed for a 200mm square bed. It was originally 125% bigger to just barely squeeze on but the corners of the frame and the 6 red stripe pieces always curled up. I printed with and without supports, both worked, I preferred no supports because while there may be more trimming, for fit-up, missing material is better than extra material. I don't think you can go much smaller on the individual white stars, but the blue Union field can be back-lit with white light. High quality translucent material is recommended. Dog not included. Not even a model of the dog. Happy Fourth of July America!
