this uses a ratcheting system but without having to have a spring. as you wind the tube, the force brings the roller, which holds the knob, which has the ratchet pawls, up an into the notch which keeps the roller from unwinding. to remove tube, push the roller out from the opposite end of the knob with the pawls no supports.
