1987, give or take a year, about October I caught a Timber Rattlesnake at Rattlesnake Pond in Wattensaw Wildlife Management Area near Hazen Arkansas. It was about seven feet long and huge. I brought it home and gave it to the local University. It was too big for them to measure with the equipment they had and too large to manage so they gave it to a local snake keeper. I only can find two pictures of the snake taken at the University. I have seen several articulated print-in-place snakes and none resembled the one I had caught. So, I set out to make one. After several weeks this is what I have created. Printing with silk rainbow filament gives it a nice look and for some reason people want to play with it and just have a hard time putting it down. Printed it at full scale and 50% in white PETG, gave to my 6-year-old granddaughter to color. The challenge I have been working on is printing at the lowest percentage and still have a working model. I have successfully printed one using PETG at 25% but it is very fragile. You will have to have your printer tuned to make a good print. Very important to have good bridging and elephant foot settings to print this model. Full size is just over 500mm or just under 20 inches. After printing – gently move each section to free. After moving back and forth several times they will move freely. ALL designs are protected by Copyright Law.
