The Bauform R667 casemate was one of the most common and effective type of bunker on the Normandy coast (present on Omaha Beach Wn.65 and Utah Beach), were would be positioned along the shore to permit enfilade fire along all the beach, with the massive side wall extension facing the sea and protecting the embrasure from naval gunfire.
