Taiko

Description

The inspiration for this print came from the design on a Japanese Taiko drum that I had not seen before. Taiko drumming is a popular form of Japanese music and has quite a large following. You will see the top surface shape of the orange piece on most every Taiko drum, and I thought it could be the basis for an interesting twisty. I made the tolerance between the 2 parts a tiny bit larger than usual because there is such a large contact area. Be prepared to spend a bit of time getting the 2 parts aligned the first time you put them together - even with the larger tolerance it is a close fit. It's a good idea to move the 2 pieces part way apart and then back together a few times just to smooth out the the outside and inside surfaces a bit.
