Description

Inspired by samaras/helicopter seeds, I designed a projectile and launcher. Don't expect it to shoot really far, but in my testing it usually gets 10 to 20 feet before fluttering down. Your mileage may vary, but so far, it seems very satisfying, and my kids really love it. The main thing to know about printing this is that the seed was designed with a 0.3 mm blade, and it is really nice to have two layers for that. So I recommend setting your first layer height to 0.15 mm and then having your standard layer height at 0.12 mm for best results. And for the slingshot, I recommend extra wall loops, maybe set it to three, and 15–20% gyroid infill so it doesn’t break, although it won’t get a lot of force on it since you’re using a single elastic band. Also, I highly recommend using this outside, because they work better the higher up they are launched, since it takes a little while for them to start spinning.
