Description

Samurai (侍)were members of the warrior class who served as retainers to lords in Medieval Japan . Samurai existed from the late 12th century until their abolition in the late 1870s during the Meiji era. Also called Bushi (武士)war was their way of life and often a family tradition and they portrayed such virtues as reckless bravery, fierce family pride, and selfless, at times senseless devotion to their master. During the Sengoku period, as the armies grew, the command and control structure became more and more complex. Tipically the commander of each Sonae (300-1500 man strong unit) sat at the center of the unit with his attendants and each sub-unit and their sub commanders arrayed in front or on the flanks. For communication they used different types of banners(the most complex of them, uma-jirushi marked the position of the commander) wind instruments and drums. Also the role of messengers(usually denoted by the "Horo" cloak) was necessary not only on the battlefield but also for communication between castles. This set includes 13 seated, 13 standing, 8 in combat and 8 cavalry command poses, 7messenger, 8 normal and 17 special banner, 10 musician, 17 support (ammo bearers and soldiers), 12 attendants(guards, horse holder, carrying severed heads), 10 special sashimono(which you can use to denote the elite Hatamoto units), Horo cloak, 8 variants of normal and triple sashimono and 4 parts for Jinmaku camp screens.
