唐刀是指唐代的刀，初唐时期的形态风格和隋环首刀相差不大，没有刀格，收刀需要刀柄埋鞘。直到唐朝中期才正式出现刀格。后多指无环手的横刀。装饰角度来说不一定全是中原风格，西亚阿拉伯文化繁荣，对唐刀产生重要影响，某些唐刀有十字形剑格。日本刀并未影响唐刀发展，反而是唐刀对日本刀的发展影响极大。
