The smell of smoked venison hangs in the air most evenings, and the pelts on the upper racks are usually spoken for before they're even dry. Generations later, the Lodge still stands. Mostly. The racks are empty, the smokehouse is cold, and the woods have crept back to claim what the hunters once held at bay. The Lodge has become a ruin, useful now only to those who need shelter, a vantage point, or a quiet place to ambush whoever comes through the trees next.
