Hercules at The Palace of Versailles, France by Scan The World

Description

This is a marble sculpture of Hercules decorating the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. The piece depicts Hercules, made evident with his masculine physique and lion skin tied around his neck. In his left hand he holds a club and in his right a punnet of apples from his eleventh labour in which he had to retieve the fruit from the Hesperides. The apples were guarded by the daughters of Atlas (after he was turned into a mountain) and hundred-headed dragon. This object is part of "Scan The World".
