The Clock Tower, located in Konak Square and the symbol of Izmir, was built by the Ottoman Sultan Sultan II. In 1901, as it was the 25th anniversary of Abdulhamid's accession to the throne; It was built by a commission consisting of İzmir Governor Kıbrıslı Kamil Pasha, Naval Governor Said Pasha and Mayor Eşref Pasha.
