Description

Djed pillar The Djed pillar, also known as the "spine of Osiris", is the symbol that represents strength and stability in ancient Egyptian culture. It is associated with Ptah, the god of creation, and Osiris, the god of the underworld and the dead. Although first known as the symbol of Ptah, the cult of Osiris in time adopted the symbol of the djed pillar. This is where the name "Osiris' backbone" comes from. The Egyptians believed that the Djed pillar was in fact the combination of the four pillars that held up the four corners of the earth.
