Designed as a fictitious competitor to the B-21 Raider, The Firebat has the same roles and general capabilities in mind. The Firebat uses the same Pratt & Whitney F135 engines used in the B-21, but with the same afterburner capability as F-35. This is achieved with a reduced infrared signature even with the burners lit thanks to two different bleed air systems, One with its own dedicated dorsal air inlets in the forward portion of the engine fairing. The other is due to a set of compressor blades forward of the actual engines that pull more bleed air into the pneumatic, cooling and life support system. The rest is pushed into the exhaust under pressure to drastically reduce the temperature of the exhaust leaving the nozzles- even with the afterburners lit.Lastly, the engines are mounted deep within the fuselage. Two sets of vertically aligned thrust vectoring panels allow for advanced maneuvering options for the flight management system along with dedicated maneuvering surfaces. They also block the residual heat signature from the exhausts. Along with the same weapons bay dimensions, The Firebat can carry a total of ten AIM-120D AMRAAMs for limited use as a stand-off anti-aircraft arsenal platform. There is an AN/APG-81 RADAR installed, but programming data would realistically be provided from other aircraft via the Link-16 tactical datalink.
