Chambered in .25 ACP, it was created as a compact and reliable self-defense handgun for civilian use. Its simple blowback operation, compact dimensions, and streamlined internal hammer design made it extremely successful worldwide and helped establish the standard layout for many future pocket pistols. Despite its small size, the FN 1906 became one of Browning’s most commercially successful handgun designs and remained in production for decades.
