And one of the worms found consuming the corpses is the tenacious worm.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The tenacious worm is a normally small worm with a relatively hard, segmented shell, with a pair of claws next to its mouth, the chelicerae. Popular wisdom says that tenacious worms only feed on the corpses of convicts and criminals, but we have no way of confirming these beliefs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The tenacious worm is considered an ominous sign. And the mage Malespero, the Lord of Despair, for many years delved into the study of the occult arts. He studied the use of pinworms in divination, researched precognitive dreams of death, read all about conjurations that bring terror and despair to men, even to mortal agonies. Consumed by this baneful magic, he became—or rather, degenerated—himself into a scavenger creature. The worms merged with his flesh, became one with him.
