This thing is based on a pencil holder that Lisa Simpson picks up at SHØP (a parody of IKEA) at the start of Season 11 / Episode 7. I did my best to make it as close to the images in The Simpsons episode as I could while also making it somewhat usable as a pencil holder. Whether or not I succeeded is debatable.
