El film actúa como una barrera antiadherente, evitando que la masa o la porcelana fría se pegue al cortante. Además, ayuda a que el borde no marque líneas demasiado duras ni rompa el material, logrando bordes más suaves y prolijos. También facilita retirar el cortante sin deformar la figura y reduce la necesidad de usar harina o almidón, lo que mantiene mejor la textura y la humedad del material.
