説明

This is an educational tool on design tolerances. For those still learning about dimensional tolerances, here is an example print to learn from. The peg is 0.5 inch diameter, and fits into holes +/- [0, 0.05 and 0.1] inches. When performing design considerations for press-fit, or as a simple placeholder, this is a great print to use when practicing. For my metric friends, this is approximately the equivalent of +/- [0, 1.25, and 2.5] mm tolerances. The top row goes tighter, and the bottom row goes looser. Note: pressing the pin into the hole labelled 0.49" will be difficult, or impossible to remove once you press it into the hole. That hole is a one-time use. To be abundantly clear, it will go in fairly easily, but you will have difficulty taking it back out. This is an example of a good locking press fit in a design. Also, I designed the box, so that you can see how x and y-dimensional tolerances also need to be considered. The y-dimensions can fit, while filling 3 holes horizontally, will not. I recommend printing 3 pins for best results and function (as shown).
