Dry-Bag Spool Holder

Keeping your filament dry is a PITA. Even if you have a nice dry storage box, every time you finish printing with a spool, you have to take it off and put it in dry storage. With this filament holder, you can keep feed your filament directly out of a dry storage bag and leave it there after you've finished. The basic spool holder is a "rim-roller" design build into an oval-ish tray. The filament feeds out through a small hole in the base. Then just put a plastic bag over the spool and secure to the edge of the tray with a rubberband. (I recommend using a jumbo-sized ziplock bag with the ziplock section cut off.) Placing a couple of desiccant packs in the tray or spool center will keep your filament nice and dry. Print 1 base, 4 axles and 4 rollers. Clean up any nits, strings or blobs before assembly. And make sure the rollers spin freely on the axles before assembly. **Assembly** Apply a little grease or vaseline to the holes before inserting the axles though each roller. In the base, the slots for the axles have a flat bottom which should align with the flat sides of the axles as you press them in place. Test spin all of the rollers to make sure they spin freely.
