The development of the pivot for the spray arm of a thermal disinfector aimed to replace a worn original component, ensuring the full operation of the equipment while maintaining its safety and operational efficiency. During the design process, the dimensions and mechanical characteristics of the original part were analyzed to ensure geometric compatibility with the spray arm assembly and the coupling and rotation system, while 3D modeling in CAD software allowed precise reproduction of the fittings, water channels, and support surfaces, as well as optimization of areas subjected to friction and repetitive stress. Considering the operating environment—characterized by continuous heating and cooling cycles and constant exposure to moisture—it was determined that the replacement part would be printed in Nylon PA6-GF (glass fiber-reinforced polyamide 6), a material selected for its high thermal resistance, withstanding temperatures up to 110 °C without significant deformation; excellent dimensional stability under temperature and humidity variations; good mechanical strength and fatigue resistance, essential to withstand rotational movements and water flow forces; and low moisture absorption compared to unreinforced polymers, ensuring component durability and reliability.
