This ruptured barrel once channeled star-hot plasma, its internal coils now fused into grotesque bubbles of slagged metal. The ground around it is glassed and fractured, a silent map of every shot the weapon ever loosed. Commanders argue whether to drag the carcass away for scrap or fortify around it, fearing that somewhere inside the ruined chamber, one last unstable charge still waits to be unleashed.
