This design started with a method for merging 2 spheres, after which I thought that shape might make a good desktop LED light. I started with 5 and 9 pointed star-shaped holes to let more light out, but printing was a problem because the arms of the stars resulted in unsupported areas that could not be printed. So I substituted circles which print OK. Because of the small amount of surface that contacts the print bed, when slicing you should add a brim to increase the contact area. Like all my LED lights, this one will accommodate any one of a number of so-called "puck lights". These are small LED lights that are shaped like a hockey puck. There are quite a lot of puck light options - both wall powered and battery powered. Find one you like simply by Googling "puck light." Rather than create a 2nd posting I added PiercedLamp2 to this design because it is just a fairly simple modification to the original. Depending on how your printer handles short unsupported overhangs you may have to do some manual cleanup on the final results. For me it only took about 5 minutes with an Xacto knife.
