This marble bust captures the celebrated Scottish author Sir Walter Scott at the height of his literary fame. Sculpted by Sir Francis Chantrey, one of Britain’s leading portraitists, the work reflects Scott’s cultural statues and intellectual depth. Commissioned during Scott’s lifetime, the bust became an iconic image of the writer, admired for novels like Ivanhoe and Waverley. A printed label on the back suggests that the bust was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851. However, the version displayed there was an electrotype and not a marble carving. The portrait was in Lord Brotherton’s collection at Roundhay Hall by 1926. It was inherited by his niece-in-law Dorothy Una Ratcliffe, who presented it to the Brotherton Library in 1952–53. | Download free and paid 3D printable STL files
