https://youtu.be/McWdvOVcRh8?si=teHDWmmKqWiurNu0 I had never even heard of the Aerfer Leone, but the moment I saw it, I was hooked. Sleek, aggressive, unapologetically 1950s Italian jet design. Looking fast even when standing still. I instantly knew this had to become my next project.The original Leone was designed as a supersonic fighter but never progressed beyond a full-scale mock-up. After the F-104 was selected, the project faded into history. So I decided to give it a second chance — this time as a fully flyable EDF model.While staying true to its distinctive lines, I allowed myself a few practical tweaks. The wingspan and sweep were adjusted for better RC performance, and I chose to leave out the planned auxiliary rocket booster. Sometimes less really is more. Designing the intake and ducting was probably the biggest challenge of the whole project but I’m happy to say it paid off. I managed to create a clean, efficient split-duct setup with plenty of room in between for the battery. The pack sits neatly between the ducts and can be moved over a wide range, making CG adjustment quick and easy. No compromises, no awkward squeezing things into place. As always, the model is optimized for LW-PLA printing. With a wingspan of 890 mm and a length of 1160 mm, powered by a 70 mm EDF on a 6S 3500- 5000 mAh LiPo, the Leone means business. Acceleration is strong, top speed is impressive. Not tested, but I assume a good 4S setup should also be sufficient to fly the Leone, although…
