It’s three heads give it a kind of immortality, since when a head is cut from its body, the severed head grows a new body for itself. The only way to kill azhdaha is to cut off all of its heads and burn the stumps. Azhdahas typically live in large lakes or underwater caves, sometimes guarding some ancient treasure, but they are mostly forces of mindless destruction.
