The keys are there to assist in holding the model in the approximate location for gluing. Always dry fit pieces before gluing. If you're new to Cosplay props: Print, assemble, fill gaps (your desired filler - drywall putty, wood filler, etc.), sand, prime... REPEAT as needed. Then finish painting.
