In 1942, the development of the super-heavy tank Pz.Kpfw. Maus began. In addition to this, the idea of a super-heavy tank that could be used as a mobile firing point was born. In early 1943, a project was introduced, internally known as the Mausekönig ("Mouse King"). This project incorporated solutions similar to those used in the Pz.Kpfw. Maus. In particular, it featured an electromechanical transmission system. Given the weight of 250 tons, a 4-track scheme with removable side shields was chosen for the undercarriage, on which the external tracks of the undercarriage were attached. For air defense purposes, the tank was equipped with an anti-aircraft turret and an additional installation of a 20-mm anti-aircraft automatic MG 151/20 cannon in the turret itself. Unlike the Pz.Kpfw.Maus, the Krupp combat vehicle was designed as a means of strengthening defensive lines. However, repeated bombings of Krupp factories prevented the development of the Mausekönig beyond its initial sketches.
