The Anteokheia discovered them during their travels in search of their gods. Eventually they learned that their innate psionics could allow them to pair with Aether Rays. If a psionic pairs with an Aether Ray, they can be an effective duo in combat scenarios almost instantaneously. However, with years of training the pair can act almost as one unit. They can share senses, but also nullify feelings of pain or fear. Even across great distances, even planar divides they can locate one another. Some of the greatest Aether Rays can mimic spells like Planar Shift to return to their rider. Wild Aether Rays are quite deadly, due to their size and innate psionics - most ships don't stand a chance if they stay to fight.
