English One of the stories describing the origins of the gorgon Medusa, tells the story of a young girl whom Poseidon falls in love with and rapes in a temple of Athena. The goddess, very attached to purity and virginity, decides to punish the young girl for this sacrilege by transforming her into a gorgon. I am aware that this is a contemporary reading of this story, but, for me, this story illustrates the social and cultural injustice imposed on victims, especially women.
