Instead, they have a large central hole, that doesn't make them air tight. A serious limitation for food storage, or anything that should be protected from humidity and dust. This is a handle, that makes them more convenient to use in a kitchen, but also closes the hole to make them air tight. No screws/no glue required for assembly. No supports needed; just rotate the top part 180 degrees.
