The creation of the prosthesis aimed to enable a 13-year-old child to play the violin in an adapted manner, overcoming physical limitations through an accessible technological solution. The project consisted of developing a mechanical device capable of attaching to the child’s arm and to the violin bow, allowing the necessary movements for playing the instrument. Initially, a study was conducted to understand the user’s needs and the dynamics of violin performance. In this instrument, one hand is responsible for pressing the strings along the violin’s neck, while the other manipulates the bow, performing horizontal movements across the strings to produce sound. Therefore, the prosthesis was designed with the purpose of enabling the child to hold and move the bow with stability, maintaining the proper positioning during musical performance. The first stage of development involved creating an anatomical fitting for the child’s arm. This fitting was designed to adapt to the structure of the limb, distributing pressure evenly and providing comfort during use. To ensure secure and adjustable fixation, strap systems with Velcro were used, allowing the prosthesis to be easily placed and removed, while also enabling small adjustments when necessary. Based on this structural foundation, a support mechanism for coupling the violin bow was developed.
