This is high detailed segmented model. Size 14 MB + 15 MB respectively without zip. 2 Files. The temporal bone is a complex and highly important irregular bone located on the lateral (sides) and base of the skull. There are two temporal bones, one on each side, forming part of the cranial vault and enclosing crucial structures related to hearing and balance. It is a vital component of the middle cranial fossa and provides articulation for the mandible, forming the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).Each temporal bone is intricately shaped and is typically described as having several distinct parts: Squamous Part: The largest and most superior portion, forming the flat, fan-shaped part of the temporal bone that contributes to the lateral wall of the cranium. It features the zygomatic process, a forward-projecting arch that articulates with the zygomatic bone to form the zygomatic arch (cheekbone). Below the zygomatic process is the mandibular fossa (glenoid fossa), a depression that articulates with the condyle of the mandible to form the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Tympanic Part: A small, C-shaped plate of bone that forms the anterior, inferior, and posterior walls of the external acoustic meatus (ear canal). It also contributes to the floor of the ear canal and surrounds the tympanic membrane (eardrum).
