Born in Denison, Texas, October 14, 1890-Washington D. C., March 28, 1969) was a military man and politician who served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. A five-star general in the United States Army during World War II, he was supreme allied commander on the Western European front, responsible for planning and overseeing the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch between 1942 and 1943 and the successful Operation Overlord, with the subsequent liberation of France and Germany between 1944 and 1945. The design depicts Eisenhower in his uniform and official coat, which bears his 4 stars on his shoulders. Dwight D. Eisenhower was promoted to four-star general on February 11, 1943. During World War II, he rose from colonel to four-star general in less than two years, distinguishing himself as Supreme Allied Commander and leading the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944.
