I own an AMS, but I don't really use it because I prefer the direct feed. On the other hand, there are certainly many users who prefer to have the AMS set up next to the printer. The new rim has the advantage that you have a better top view of the printed material and, more importantly, that when you take the disc out completely, the accumulated heat can escape better.
